We are a group of nine (forever) young engineers employed by Nordson MATRIX in Hungary who have decided to make a local #NordsonImpact. Nordson Corporation is proud to support organizations and charities to improve the quality or life of local communities – this year, through Nordson MATRIX, the Corporation has decided to support the Egyesek-KacsaKő collaboration, two nonprofit organization that build an inclusive community of 9-14 year old children who would never meet in real life under normal circumstances due to the distant social bubbles they live in: underprivileged children from state care institutions, Roma kids from segregated schools in the organized summer camps come together with children from majority, non-Roma, privileged families.

Nordson have already donated 3.000 euros for this purpuse. We plan to double it, will you take the challenge with us?

the challenge
__

The nine of us are throwing a challenge to all Nordson employees globally and ourselves at the same time. We have decided to form three teams and run the Budapest Half-Marathon, relay or individually as a charity gaining event on September 6, 2020. Why the run? KacsaKő Summer Camp makes lifes better by using sport as a tool to group children together who would never meet. We are undertaking a smaller but very similar challenge – the nine of us have different backgrounds in sports in general and running in specific. There are former national team sportsmen among us, but also couch potatoes. Some of us have completed a half-marathon individually several times, but some have never ever ran more than 3-4 kilometres at once.

Yet we will all train and make this happen for good:

We want to raise funds to double and surpass the donated fee by gathering another 3.000 euros for KacsaKő Summer Camp.

about kacsakő

KacsaKő, informal group of young people, provides opportunities for children with different socio-economic backgrounds to meet and gain shared experiences. They contribute to the development of children's social and emotional skills, help them become more tolerant and open to diverse points of views, and support them to form a diverse community.

They activities and summer camps are free of charge. The participants are 9-14 years old children who come from state care institutions, Roma segregations and from segregated schools, and also children who come from majority, non-Roma, privileged backgrounds.

We have decided to participate the 35th Budapest Half Marathon - the biggest annually held half marathon event in central Europe.

The event will take place on September 6th, 2020. In between many nationalities there are many runners with different purposes all connecting with a simple act: the running. We are bringing our community, challenge and purpose to this international platform of achievements.

When I came to know that my colleagues will run for a good reason, I said "I'm in!". 12 years and 35kgs ago in high school, I used to run. I do know that this is going to be really tough for a fat guy who haven't run in years. Sadly I did not exersice for my health for a long time, but doing it for others is a convincing reason for me. Let's do it!

Mate Domonkos

Normally I never run. But if I help someone with that, I’m happy to fight for every breath. If you’re not running, support us so we can support a much bigger cause.

Istvan Latos

Sport brings people closer. This event and all the preparations for it serve as a great team building activity, increase health awareness and most importantly, combined with our fundraising we invest into the future: children. The goal we set is very ambitious, but with our team spirit we will make it happen, we will make a difference.

Andras Patus

I'm a climber. From time to time I try to conquer the hardest walls. But now I call you for a battle where we can break the walls to help the helpless. Please support us to make someone’s life better.

Jozsef Sebestyen

As the oldest in the team I wanted to show that nothing is impossible.

Alvaro David Varga

I started to exercise to have and feel the change. Have you ever thought I would run? Me neither! But don’t worry, if you now feel bad, just support our cause! ;)

Matyas Varga

I do this cause I believe in YOU, goodwill, humanity and in the fact that impossible is nothing. If I have ever worked with you or invited you for a beer, make a difference and support us!

Motivation: I’m a dreamer. Every morning I’m starting my day with the motivation to make things better. I’m busy. There are so many things to fix. I’m lucky. I have my friends next to me, sharing the passion and the drive. I know we are many. Let’s show what we are capable of.
